I have no clue how it came to this, but it seems every vacation ends with a side order of illness. It all started 3 years ago when we got the all mighty - trendy "C". Of course, the holiday ended early. I suppose that's when we started this new tradition.

What drives me crazy is that there is no pattern to it. It's not like there is that one vacation per year that gets ruined, no, it could happen after each one. If I take time off three times per year, there you go, three chances to get sick. It's like playing the roulette, you never know if you're going to win or lose.

As you might’ve guessed, it happened again recently. Summer vacation, end of August, and bam, we both come back with a reunion with that old trendy friend, "C." I’m just praying this was our "third time’s the charm" moment, because I'm running out of patience.

Anyhow, so I prolonged my vacation by 2 weeks of medical leave. This "C" session was the worst of all. It was so bad that every time I coughed, it felt as if there was an earthquake inside of me and all my organs would be on the verge of collapse. But I soldiered on. I tried every eastern European treatment, including putting slices of raw potato in my socks at night. Not the purpose of this post, but I also dabbled with the doTerra essential oils. Miracle drops or not...not sure yet - but that's a story for another day.

Moving on, here I am at work after two weeks of cough-fest. Still spitting out a lung, but feeling slightly better. Four days in, I start thinking maybe dragging myself to the office wasn’t my brightest idea. So, I opt for a home office day and spend the rest of the weekend suffering and contemplating my life choices.

Now the dilemma that I am facing. Next Thursday I'm supposed to do the Business Run. I feel better, but not 100%. So, by my expert Romanian calculations, 85% recovered + 100% rain equals, you guessed it, a solid 100% chance of being sick again.

So, what do I do? Should I go for the glory, or do I sit this one out?
